How does this whole things work?

The Tire Rack One Lap of America is a celebration of freedom, the automobile and the drivers. Teams (a minimum of 2 people) gather at the start and then take off for a series of challenges throughout the week. Tires must be purchased from TireRack.com and in accordance with the stated Tire Policy. There are no support vehicles allowed, however, you are free to figure out how you carry all of your stuff. Trailers, mailing ahead, playing trunk Tetris etc… are all great options.

How do we get from place to place?

Simple! You use the car with 4 wheels and Tires (Tires from Tire Rack) that you brought to the start! The Tire Rack One Lap of America does not allow support vehicles of any kind. You have a single set of tires to complete the whole thing and you run what you brung.

What is the track format like?

Primarily the One Lap utilizes time trials. For road course events, participants are placed into run groups in accordance with our rules and head out from the pit lane at intervals. Following the sight-in lap, vehicles stop at the red flag on the start/finish line. At that point they are given the green flag, one by one, and complete 3 fast laps. Scoring is based on the cumulative time, meaning lowest overall ET for the 3 laps takes maximum points.

What other challenges are there?

It really comes down to how much we were imbibing at the time of the route creation. We like to throw in multiple disciplines of motorsport to see who the best and most adaptable drivers/teams are. We commonly use Drag Racing as well as AutoCross, but things like Karting competitions and Dirt Tracks are never ruled out.

For Goodness Sake, WHAT CLASS AM I IN?

Relax and focus on the driving and the experience. The classes are more of a guide and have always been meant to be that way. We have worked to clean them up this year, but at the core, we really want you to bring whatever you want to and come have fun. If you read the description and your car fits in there, then go for it. If you REALLY are concerned about it, please reach out to us and we will help guide you.
